We’ve all had bad interviews, and we’ve all had worse questions. Ask anyone in your office and they’ll tell you a time when they got asked awkward questions. They say there’s no such thing as stupid questions – only stupid answers. But, I beg to differ. There are interview questions that we ask time and time again, despite them being universally acknowledged as bad questions.

Of course, it goes without saying that as an HR, you should never ask any questions relating to sex, gender, race, disability, and age. Questions like these are usually rooted in discrimination and are illegal to ask.

Apart from these, however, here are a few commonly overused questions you shouldn’t ask, and how you can better rephrase them to receive more valuable answers!
